Sambhar Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup toor dal (pigeon pea lentils), soaked for 30 minutes
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 1 dried red chili
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- 1 medium tomato (chopped)
- 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, drumsticks, brinjal, beans, etc.)
- 1 tbsp tamarind pulp
- 1 tsp jaggery (optional, for mild sweetness)
- 2 tsp Sambhar Masala
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Water as required
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
1️⃣ Cook toor dal with turmeric and water until soft. Mash and set aside.
2️⃣ Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and dried red chili. Let them splutter.
3️⃣ Add onions and sauté until golden, then add tomatoes and cook until soft.
4️⃣ Add chopped vegetables, Sambhar Masala, salt, and water. Cook until vegetables are tender.
5️⃣ Stir in cooked dal, tamarind pulp, and jaggery, and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
6️⃣ Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with idli, dosa, vada, or steamed rice.
